There is nothing like a good cup of coffee to get your morning off to the right start. I have been an avid coffee drinker for more than a decade, so I would like to think that I know a good cup of coffee when I taste one, and I can tell you that our little mom and pop shop – “Joe’s Coffee” serves up some of the best brew I have ever had.
As a customer, you cannot help but appreciate the friendly atmosphere that echoes the heart of our hometown. They have comfy seats, and a setting where anyone would feel comfortable taking a second to relax and read the paper, or complete their upcoming homework assignment, taxes, or just take a break and people watch out the windows, while you sip on something wonderful.
They made the inside of their shop comfy so that it is the perfect place to have a catch-up coffee date with your best friend. Best yet, it’s kid friendly so you can tote your toddler with you too, and don’t have to feel out of place.
Aside from coffee, Joe’s tries to find various niches to best serve our little town, such as their iconic berry bowls and pesto sandwiches.
Trust me, when I was pregnant with Pearl I ate there almost every day as their bagel sandwiches hit the spot. Every day I was greeted by the same friendly baristas, smiling as they asked, “Your usual?”
Joe’s is much more than a coffee shop, it is our coffee shop, where in true Susanville fashion, they continue to give and donate where possible. You cannot make it in and out of there without running into someone you know, and the employees know your name.
The girls behind the counter remember everyone’s names, but also more astonishing, their individual drink orders. I can barely remember Frankie’s and I’ve been ordering it for the past nine years.
I don’t know what sort of magic recipe they have for their lattes, but it always hits the spot.
When my friends or family come to visit, and I run out to get them coffee, of course I am going to show off one of our home town treasures, and buy them Joe’s. Every. Single. Time.
My guests say the same thing – “This is amazing.” Because it is.
It’s small town business, delivering a quality product, service and experience. And as they sip their coffee I always brag that they can take their big city coffee, I’ll take mine from my hometown Café, because Joe’s is one of the reasons I love the place we live.
