Oh Gary Felt. There is just something about him that you can’t help but adore.
With a lot of people, I can remember the exact moment I met them. But with our dear sweet Chamber President, I just remember knowing him. Whether through Rotary or the other 100 million other things he has his hands in (Crime Stoppers, Salvation Army Advisory Board, helping with Lassen Family Services, a HUSA wine walk, etc) Gary entered my life.
Few people can rival me when it comes to a love of talking. Talking to anyone, about anything, anywhere.
I can say without reserve that dear, sweet Gary definitely outshines me in this area, which is quite impressive. However, he uses his gregariousness to help our community.
Just yesterday he helped spearhead Lassen County’s inaugural Benevolence Committee meeting. I watched him greet the members, and instinctively capture their attention. He commands notice, but does so with such a subtle gentleness that you can’t help but like him.
Spending minutes around Gary, anyone can tell how much he loves this community. In fact, Gary goes out of his way to promote our little county, doing everything he can to help tourism.
Gary travels via the Chamber of Commerce to represent our community and luckily for us he has a way of engaging people in a manner I have never seen. Gary has also MC’d several other community events, using his talent to capture attention to our county’s benefit.
On top of his talent, which Gary so freely donates on behalf our of community, Gary is not afraid to put in actual hours or manpower to help out a good cause. Gary does hundreds of hours of community service without ever demanding praise for doing so.
I also can attest that he has a real soft spot for our community’s agencies and will provide whatever sort of financial resources he can.
Gary has an infectious smile, but even more so, he has a true servant’s heart. A heart that has been benefiting Lassen County for a very long time.
We are so incredibly lucky to have him working so hard to better our community. Gary is the embodiment of why small towns are great. He knows everyone’s name, is a friendly face at every social event and truly loves his community. He is one of the very reasons, I love this place too.
