Weather Corner: Rain and Snow and Precipitation, Oh My!

Nearly three inches of moisture fell on our area this weekend in the form of rain and snow according to measurements taken by our local meteorological expert Dr. Owen Bateson.

Bateson’s data shows .34 inches on the ground Saturday morning, 1.02 inches by Sunday morning and a whopping 2.88 inches of the wet stuff recorded by 8:00a.m. Monday.

While not a ‘drought breaker’ this series of storms certainly did its part to help alleviate the severely dry conditions we have seen so far this winter.

According to the National Weather Service we can expect a short break with partly cloudy skies through Wednesday evening when a slight chance of rain returns. By the weekend prognosticators are expecting another potent winter storm to affect our area.
