VFW Hosting 4th Annual Welcome Home for Vietnam Veterans March 30th

William Davidson Post 2381 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be holding their 4th annual ‘Welcome Home’ for Vietnam Veterans Saturday, March 30th, at the Veterans Memorial Building on Main Street.  March 30th has been designated as, “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day” marking the anniversary of the day that combat and combat support units withdrew completely from South Vietnam in 1973.

A full slate of activities are planned for the event, which will begin at 10:00a.m., and is open to the public.

VFW Post Commander Mel Morrison will make introductions and Autumn Brooks, from Lassen High School, will sing the National Anthem.

Also on the schedule are VFW Post Chaplain Anthony Lares, who will deliver both the Invocation and Benediction, followed by proclamations in honor of the day by both the City Council and the Lassen County Board of Supervisors.

Honored guests at the event will be; Phillip Shipko, US Marines, 2nd Battalion 3rd Marines, 1st Battalion 9th Marines in Vietnam and Mr. Randy Cochran, US Army, Airborne Medic 1966-1968, 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam Era.

At 11:30a.m. the VFW post will be sponsoring a free lunch downstairs at the Veterans Hall. The Post Canteen will be open for refreshments.
