Uptown Safe and Sane Celebration Starts at 3:00 This Afternoon

Ghosts, goblins, vampires and superheroes will roam the streets of uptown Susanville today, October 31st, at the Historic Uptown Susanville Association’s Annual Safe and Sane Halloween celebration.

Children under 12 are invited to come and ‘Trick or Treat’ at businesses throughout uptown and Main Street will be closed to thru traffic for the safety of all the kids.

From 3:00 until 5:00 uptown businesses will be passing out candy and there will be lots of fun activities for the kids, including a children’s costume contest!

Even the pets have their own costume contest. Both contests will be held in Pancera Plaza between 4:00 and 4:30.

Perfect for the littles, there will be a walk-through haunted house at Sierra Desert Properties with candy and Jack Skellington at the end for a photo opportunity. The cost is $3 and the money benefits Holiday with a Hero through the Susanville Police Explorers. The haunted house will be ‘spooky’ not scary according to organizers.

The big uptown party will feature music, dance performances and coffin races which this year are free to enter.

Local businesses have sponsored prizes for the winning coffin racers and it should be quite the spectacle as they fly across the finish line.
