Three Arrested Friday After Shot is Fired During Russell Avenue Altercation

No one was injured, and three Susanville residents were arrested Friday evening, after a firearm was discharged during an altercation near Russell Avenue.

According to details released by the Susanville Police Department,  shortly before 7:00 one gunshot was heard by a patrol officer coming from the east end of town.

This was followed, two to three minutes later, by a call reporting that the suspect, who had fired the shot around Russell Avenue, had left the scene in a red Dodge Neon followed by a small sport-utility vehicle.

The reporting party told the Sheriff’s Office dispatcher that they were following the two suspect vehicles and that that the suspects had fired a weapon at the reporting party’s brother but no one was hit by the single round.

A Lassen County Sheriff’s Deputy saw the red Neon pull out onto Riverside Drive heading east. Police officers quickly conducted a Felony Traffic Stop on the suspect’s vehicle while the Sheriff’s Deputy stopped the sport-utility vehicle, making contact with a woman identified by the Police Department as Skye Taylor.

The suspects, Cesar Lucatero and Armando Lucatero, were detained at their vehicle while witnesses to the incident arrived on scene and identified them as the two men involved in the incident on Russell Avenue.

“After further investigation based on victim and witness statements,” explains Department spokesperson Victoria Estrada, “it was determined that Armando Lucatero was carrying a large machete knife and Cesar Lucatero was carrying a firearm.”

The fight reportedly began on Russell Avenue when a victim was threatened with the machete knife and, during the altercation, Cesar Lucatero fired one round at the ground toward the victim before fleeing in the vehicle.

“After further investigation the machete knife and firearm were recovered from this incident. The firearm recovered was also reported stolen from a prior case.”

Armando and Cesar Lucatero along with Skye Taylor were transported to the Lassen County Jail and booked on charges.
