On August 26th, 2021 Lassen County lost one of its most valued horse lovers, Shauna Bond. Shauna joined the 4-H program at eleven years old and was involved until she was eighteen. She then served as a 4-H Leader for sixteen years for a total of twenty-three years.

Shauna participated in the swine, horse, and public speaking projects. She spent countless hours judging horse members for competitions around the county, region, state, and nation. She took teams to national contests on more than one occasion. Shauna was the Community Leader of the Lassen County Hoofbeats for many years and was responsible for the success of many 4-H Horse Events.

When interviewed about her mother’s love of 4-H Ashley Breshanan commented that, “her mom believed 4-H was a program that could take any kid and give them an opportunity to succeed.” Shauna extended every opportunity she could to her 4-H kids and beloved horse community.

Shauna touched and changed many lives. Her love for her own children – Ashley and Dyllan – was apparent as she would beam with pride at the mention of their names. She was a strong advocate for youth being able to learn life skills in 4-H that could help them find a career path in the future.

She would extend her hand to her fellow leaders and community members without hesitation. She had the heart of a warrior and was never one to quit until the work was done.

Welcome to the 4-H Hall of Fame Mrs. Bond. Thank you for service to our 4-H program.
