Symphony Society Bringing Jazz to Susanville at This Saturday’s Concert

This Saturday night the Elks Lodge will come alive with the sounds of jazz harmony and improvisation combined with rock music, funk, and rhythm and blues as the Symphony Society presents Susanville’s first Jazz Fusion concert.

“This is a first of its kind for the Susanville Symphony, which is branching out on all eras of Jazz,” explains Symphony Artistic Director Ben Wade.

“We are excited to bring Rafael Feliciano, a major player in the jazz world. Rafael, born in Puerto Rico, but resides in Los Angeles, is a professional drummer. He has played with the likes of Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter, and will be bringing his Latin flair to Susanville.”

The Jazz Band will be playing songs like Cantaloupe Island, Miles Davis ‘So What’, Dizzy Gillespie ‘Manteca’, Victor Lopez ‘Sabor de Cuba’ and more great Jazz standards.

“I wanted to dip into the genres of cool jazz, bee bop, jazz, funk and more.”

Feliciano, according to Wade, says, “The audience is gonna love it baby. If they ain’t movin, they dead.”

There will only be one performance, October 30th at 7:00p.m., at the Elks Lodge.

Tickets are on sale at Margie’s Book Nook, Axia Home Loans, and a very few might be left for sale at the door.

“Come get them while they are hot!” said Wade.
