Sunday, January 26
Lassen National Park will be offering ranger-led snowshoe walks to the public each Saturday and Sunday, from 1:30 to 3:30, until March 29th, weather permitting. The walks cover one to two miles of moderately strenuous terrain. Please note that walks may be canceled at the last minute due to extreme weather conditions. Please feel free to call (530) 595-4480 ahead to check on conditions. The guided walk begins at the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center at the park’s Southwest Entrance off Hwy 36. Snowshoes are provided, a $1 donation is requested to cover maintenance costs.

Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon Industry Night, every Monday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Do you work in the biz? Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon welcomes you to Lassen County’s only industry night for restaurant, bar, food service and hospitality professionals. Come with your co-workers, mix and mingle with your peers from other local businesses. Relax and get waited on for a change. Bring your business ID or paycheck stub for specials on appetizers and beer.

Educational Prevention Groups for Youths is on Mondays and Tuesday’s 3:30 – 5:00p.m., at 1400-A Chestnut Street. Groups are presented by Lassen County Behavioral Substance Use Disorder Prevention Program. You will learn about various topics and issues that many teens face: alcohol, vaping, drugs, health relationships, internet safety, tobacco, and much more. There is no cost to attend these groups. Tuesday, January 28
Lassen Family Services Parenting Group Classes. Reduce the chaos and power struggles; learn an approach to parenting that is both simple and effective. “Positive Parenting with a Plan,” by Matthew A. Johnson, Psy. D., MSW, helps parents establish order and structure in the home, including rewards and positive consequences that work!  Designed as a 12-week program, group and individualized instruction is provided on an on-going basis. Group classes are held Tuesdays from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. and Fridays from 10:00–11:00 a.m.

Tuesday, January 28
Soroptimist International of Susanville is a women’s community service organization. Soroptimist sponsors many awards and scholarships in our community. Join them every Tuesday at noon in the Kopper Kettle Banquet Room. For more information please contact Jamie at 951-295-2668. $10.00 for lunch.

Tuesday and Wednesday, January 28 and 29
Susanville Blood Drive. The blood drive will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 905 Richmond Road on Tuesday, January 28th, from 12:00p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, January 29th, from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome or you can schedule and appointment online at the Vitalant website. Lassen County Arts Council presents, Watercolor Class with Bev Mendoza on Wednesdays, 1:00 – 3:00p.m., at the Gallery, 807 Cottage Street, Susanville. Every Wednesday join Bev’s class where all levels will explore water-based mediums. The class provides individual instruction on watercolor technique, composition, color theory/mixing, and critique. Lassen Community College Kinship Education Program workshop: Cultural Awareness presented by Natalie Karso. Cultural Diversity is to be recognized, respected and celebrated. Cultural differences aren’t always obvious as they evolve with time. Most often they’re quite subtle. Culture influences and shapers or identities through a kaleidoscope of languages, norms, beliefs, and values. So come join us and discover what your unique cultural lineage has passed along to you. Lassen Family Services: Dad Class. Fathers make a unique and invaluable contribution to the well-being of their children. A father’s interaction with his children promotes healthy physical, emotional, social, and spiritual development. This class will guide you through the knowledge, skills, attitudes, values and characteristics that are necessary for healthy relationships with your children. Classes will be every Friday at 3:00p.m., at 1306 Riverside Drive, Susanville.
