Susanville Police Officer Injured During Arrest of Juvenile

A Susanville Police Officer was injured Monday afternoon when he was struck in the face by a juvenile suspect he was attempting to arrest.

At around 5:00p.m., according to Sergeant Allen Sobol, at the intersection of Grand Avenue and First Street an officer observed a male juvenile subject known to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

“When the officer attempted to contact the juvenile,” explained Sobol, “the juvenile fled on foot into the rear of a residence around the 1500 block of First Street.”

While attempting to place the suspect into custody, the juvenile struck the officer in the face causing the injury.

Both the officer and the juvenile were seen by medical personnel at Banner Lassen Medical Center. The officer was treated for his injuries and released.

The juvenile was later booked into Lassen County Juvenile Hall for his outstanding arrest warrant as well as three additional felony charges.
