Susanville Police Department Seeking Suspect in WalMart ‘Peeping’ Case

The Susanville Police Department is on the lookout for a suspect who allegedly entered the women’s restroom at Wal-Mart Tuesday evening and ‘peeped’ into an occupied stall.

According to Susanville Police Chief Tom Downing, at around 8:00p.m., officers from the department were dispatched to Wal-Mart on a report of a male subject who entered the women’s restroom and looked under the privacy partition of an occupied toilet stall.  Downing added that a female victim, who spoke with police, confirmed this had occurred.

Video surveillance footage from Wal-Mart has been obtained and is being reviewed by police department investigators for evidence.

Chief Downing said that, “As a result of this incident, an email has been circulating around stating that the male subject was a migrant farm worker. We have not determined the nationality of the suspect at this time.”

The Susanville Police Department is working closely with the management of the Susanville Wal-Mart store to ensure public safety while shopping in this establishment. At this time, said Downing, releasing further details could jeopardize the investigation.

If you have any information regarding this incident, you are encouraged to contact the Susanville Police Department at (530) 257-5603. You can remain anonymous if you wish.
