Susanville Police Apprehend Wanted Suspect with Help From Community Members

A 36-year old Salinas man who was wanted by police is in custody thanks to a tip Saturday morning which led officers to the area of 555 North Roop Street.

According to details released by the Susanville Police Department, at approximately 10:20a.m., officers Xiong and Singletary received notification that a wanted subject, identified as Salinas resident Jose Tinajero, had been seen in the area.

“With the assistance of community members, officers responded to the area and quickly located Tinajero,” explains Officer Kevin Singletary.

When officers began giving Tinajero verbal directions he fled on foot behind the apartment complex. With the assistance of the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, officers surrounded Tinajero, apprehending him without incident.

Officer Singletary explained that the suspect had been wanted for a while and the department was pleased to have him back in custody.

Tinajero was booked into the Lassen County Jail for a no bail warrant and for violation of California Penal Code section 290.018(b).

Officer Singletary and the Susanville Police Department thanked the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and all of the community members that assisted in the apprehension of the suspect.
