Two Susanville men are in custody tonight, arrested by the Susanville Police Department for firing into residences in Susanville and Johnstonville Tuesday evening.
According to Police Chief Tom Downing, about 9:00p.m. officers were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of North Mesa Street on a report of shots fired into a residence.
When they arrived on-scene officers learned that the suspects had discharged a firearm into the residence from the alley and then fled.
“A short time later,” explains Downing, “the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office responded to a similar call on Johnstonville Road, where the suspects fired multiple rounds into a dwelling and an unoccupied vehicle, then fled the scene.”
No one was injured at either location.
The evidence collected at both scenes led investigators to believe that the two incidents were connected and as a result of the initial investigation an adult male and a juvenile male, both of Susanville, were arrested.
“It is our belief that there are no suspects outstanding,” said Downing.
Due to the pending investigation, the identities of the individuals are being withheld at this time.
“The investigation has been a collaborative effort between the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and the Susanville Police Department,” said Downing, “The excellent working relationship and collaborative efforts of the staff has resulted in the arrests of those involved in both incidents.”
Chief Downing thanked the Susanville Office of the California Highway Patrol and the Department of Fish and Wildlife for their assistance with this investigation.
