Susanville Man Injured in Late Night Roop Street Apartment Complex Shooting

A Susanville resident is in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head, after he was struck during one of several shooting incidents that occurred on North Roop Street late Friday night.

According to details released by the department, officers responded to the apartments at 400 North Roop Street after shots were reportedly fired into the complex.

“While on scene,” explains Police Chief Kevin Jones, “although there was evidence that confirmed that shots had been fired from a firearm, they did not identify any person who was shot.”

Approximately 20-minutes later officers were called back to the same apartment complex after additional shots were fired.

Officers discovered a 47-year old Susanville resident who had received a gunshot injury to his head at some point during the shooting.

Medical personnel were called and treated the victim.

“While waiting for additional personnel, more shots were fired in the area of the apartment complex at 555 North Roop Street”

No people were reported injured in the third round of gunfire.

“Although there is no direct suspect identified,” said Chief Jones, “SPD personnel recovered several different items of evidence leading to a suspect in the shootings.”

The gunshot victim was transported to an out of area hospital and is in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing and further information is expected to be released.
