Susanville FFA Forestry Team Places First at Anderson Logging Conference

Susanville FFA’s Forestry team in Anderson for the Sierra Cascade Logging Conference

Members of the Susanville Future Farmers of America Forestry team competed in the Forestry contest at the 71st Annual Forest Products and Construction Equipment Exposition in Anderson on Friday, February 7th, and came home with first place.

The team, comprised of Aidan Adams, Ethan German, Felicia Johnson, Alexandra Lopez and Rebekah Snell, were tested in the areas of forestry knowledge, plant identification, equipment and wood identification, timber measurement, compass, graph and table interpretation, acreage determination, and log scaling.

Alexandra Lopez earned the third place individual plaque and the team won a plaque and $500 for their first place award.

Forestry is just one of the Career Development Events available to FFA members. Lassen High School also has floral, vegetable crop, vet science and ag mechanic teams.
