The California Highway Patrol reports that late Tuesday night a 1989 Dodge Dakota, driven by Westwood resident Rhonda Bechthold, was travelling westbound on Hwy 36 near Devil’s Corral at approximately 50 to 55mph when the driver lost control on the icy roadway.
The vehicle travelled off the northern edge of the highway, to the dirt and gravel shoulder, where it overturned.
The 10 year-old passenger in the Dakota was taken by air ambulance to Renown Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. The driver sustained moderate injuries.
The accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
