Sheriff’s Update: Westwood Resident Dies in Clear Creek Structure Fire

Sergeant Kevin Jones of the Lassen County Sheriff’s Department has released details of the Monday evening residential structure fire in Clear Creek which took the life of a Westwood man, who emergency responders found unconscious in the burning home when they arrived on-scene.

According to Jones, at 5:15p.m, Monday, Lassen County Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to a report of a structure fire in Clear Creek in western Lassen County near Westwood. Multiple fire agencies from Cal-Fire, Westwood Fire and Peninsula Fire responded to the scene as well.

As fire and Sheriff’s Office personnel arrived to the active structure fire it was reported that a person was inside the residence. Cal Fire personnel entered and carried an unconscious male from the home. Emergency medical aid was started immediately by the first responders.

“Unfortunately, life saving measures were unsuccessful,” said Seargeant Jones, “and the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

The man is identified by the Sheriff’s Department as 63 year-old Westwood resident Bradley Streich.

Cal Fire Law Enforcement personnel were called to the scene to investigate the cause and origin of the fire, which along with the death of the resident is under investigation.
