Little did Lassen County Sheriff Dean Growdon know that just hours after testing his agency’s new Search and Rescue vehicle on Diamond Mountain it would be called into action as part of a rescue effort on Janesville Grade.

The recently-acquired Search and Rescue vehicle was funded by US Forest Service to help with rescues on federal land.

On Friday afternoon, Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office received a request for Mutual Aid assistance from the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office. They were asked to locate and retrieve subjects who were stuck in the snow on Janesville Grade inside Plumas County.

The Deputies responded with the Sheriff’s new side-by-side tracked vehicle. The subjects were able to remove themselves from area and were safe according to details released by Growdon Friday evening.
