Robert has lived a hard life. He made a lot of great friends along the way. Robert set the bar for what it means to be someone’s friend. If you are lucky enough to be one of those people, you know what I mean. He always had something to help a friend in need.
He was born to Robert William Basinger and Alice Irene Johnert on 9-30-1947. He is survived by his son Martin, his sister Susan and his brothers Johnny and Kenneth.
Robert is the proudest Marin I have ever met. Serving during the Vietnam war, Robert still talked about his life-long marine family with me almost every time we talked. He enjoyed the company of many great marines long after his service.
Wherever you are Robert, you will be missed by all that have had the pleasure to know you
