Richard Alton Nunnelee (Ric)

Richard Alton Nunnelee (Ric) was born on November 7, 1952, in Paris, Arkansas to Robert Alton and Hazel Dell (Jetton) Nunnelee. The family soon moved to Lompoc, California where Ric grew up with his older sister Robbie and younger brother Danny.

Ric enlisted in the US Navy in 1971 and retired as an E-6 twenty one years later. Ric loved the travel associated with the Navy and belonged to a running group in Moscow, USSR called the Hash Hound Harriers. Ric became a member of the Masonic Lodge in Duncanville, TX on July 21, 1983, and attained the rank of Past Master of Lassen Lodge #141.

Ric was preceded in death by both his parents Robert and Hazel and his wife Cherie Ann (Hansen) Nunnelee on June 29, 2005. Ric and Cherie have one son, Rhys Alton Nunnelee born on August 31, 1995. Ric married Catherine May Martens on June 17, 2007, in Yelm, Washington and soon moved to Susanville.

Ric is survived by his sister Robbie Dell Legendre (Donald) and brother Danny Franklyn Nunnelee. Ric is also survived by his son, Rhys Alton Nunnelee and his wife, Catherine May Nunnelee.

Both Masonic and Christian services will be held on January 8, 2022, at 11:00 am, at the United Methodist Church of Susanville. A lunch will follow with an interment at Diamond Crest Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Ric would like everyone to know that he is at peace and “If I was any better right now, I’d be twins.” In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the United Methodist Church Hope Food Pantry in Richard Nunnelee’s name.
