Lassen Senior Services held their annual Barbecue fundraiser October 16th with nearly 30 KCBS professional barbecue teams from as far away as Roseburg Oregon, Nevada, California Bay Area, San Diego, Sacramento, Redding and Los Angeles showing up to compete for $10,000 in prizes.
According to event organizer Penny Artz this is the biggest barbecue event in northeastern California history.
The trophies given out to the barbecue winners are unique to the LSS barbecue. The wood is 100-year-old beam and the cleavers are laser etched and were mounted by James Moore.
The Grand Champion winner was 7 Sins Barbecue, the Reserve Grand Champion prize went to Q4U BBQ.
First place prize in pork went to Bull Market BBQ, and Smokin’ Bliss BBQ took first place in the rib category.
Joe Comino and JC’s Smokin’ Hot Grill won the Lassen County Grill Master award. Bob Raschein’s Bob The Builder BBQ won the peoples choice award.
