Residence on McDow Street Destroyed by Fire

The Susanville Fire Department has released details of a February 9th fire which completely destroyed a residence on McDow Street.

According to Battalion Chief James Moore the department responded at around 6:47p.m. along with automatic aid from the Susan River Fire Protection District and Cal-Fire.

Moore said that on arrival of the first-in engine company, heavy smoke and fire were found coming from both stories of a single family residence.

Firefighters performed a search of the structure, attack and ventilation operations and knocked down the fire at approximately 7:34p.m. Salvage and overhaul operations were also performed.

The building sustained extensive fire, heat and smoke damage reported as a total loss. Investigation into the cause is pending at press time.

Agencies also assisting in the incident were the Susanville Police Department, Janesville Fire Protection District, Lassen County Sheriff and LMUD.
