Raymond Wilson Mallery, Jr. – February 10, 2020

Raymond Wilson Mallery, Jr. (1939-2020)

Raymond Wilson Mallery Jr. was born to Raymond and Angela (Leonesio) Mallery on December 3, 1939 in Santa Cruz, California. He passed away in his home in Sparks, NV on February 10, 2020.

His family moved to Johnstonville and then moved to the Ranch in Susanville where he raised a family and farmed until 2015. He graduated from Lassen High School in 1958. In 1963 he married Josie Landa.

Raymond began farming at a young age and truly loved being a dirt farmer. Raymond is well known and respected for his hard work ethic in the farming community. He loved hosting family deep-pit BBQs, weddings, the Rotary Cattlemanā€™s Barbeque, and general get-togethers at his Ranch. He farmed until 1983 when he retired from farming and went to work for the Lassen County School District Transportation Department. He then became a maintenance custodian for Johnstonville Elementary School and the Lassen County Superintendent’s office. He was proud to bring his farming skills to these positions and was ever grateful for the friendships he made in these roles.

In 2015 Ray and his wife Josie moved to Morning Star Senior Living Community in Sparks, Nevada. While in Sparks he continued his love of farming by planting an annual vegetable garden and flower garden.

He supplied many fresh vegetables to the dining hall at Morning Star. He loved helping his grandchildren plant their first gardens and maintain their fruit trees.

Ray enjoyed returning to Susanville to visit family and friends and always made a point to see his great grandchildren on a regular basis.

Ray is survived by three daughters Monica (Mallery) Wilmoth and son-in-law Guy Wilmoth, Michelle (Mallery) Miller and Stephanie Mallery; six grandchildren: Travis Wilmoth and his wife Heather, Tanner Wilmoth and his wife Libby, Morgan Miller, Sarah Miller, Jessica (Mallery) Baamonde and her husband Nick, and Daniel Mallery; five great grandchildren: Tynlee Baamonde, Oliver Baamonde, Mila Jo Baamonde, Rae Wilmoth and Parker Wilmoth.
Preceding Ray in death are his wife Josie Mallery, his parents Raymond and Angela, brother Pat Mallery, granddaughter Macie Miller and son-in-law Rich Miller.

A Rosary will be held at Waltons in Susanville Sunday, March 1st at 4:00 p.m. Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Monday, March 2nd, at 10:30 am, interment at Lassen Cemetery followed by a friends and family gathering at Monsignor Moran Hall.
