Public Health Issues Guidance for Events, Fundraisers and Mass Gatherings

Tuesday, July 7th, 2020

Lassen County’s COVID-19 team Incident Commanders are reminding organizers of all up-in-coming events and fundraisers to complete a Business Readiness Survey. The survey can be found on the LassenCares.org website.

The survey will act as the safety plan for the event and a member of Public Health will contact you with guidelines and recommendations.

If you have questions about how to host your event in a safe way or whether or not your event is permitted under the Governor’s orders, please contact the Public Health Department prior to holding the event.

“At this time Dr. Kenneth Korver, Lassen County Health Officer, has not recommended pulling back on any activities as long as they operate safely. The outbreak at the local prisons makes our next steps unclear, but the Public Health staff and Incident Command are monitoring the situation closely,” Incident Commanders explained in their update.

“All mass gatherings should adhere to the state guidelines. The state’s public health experts have determined that gatherings should be postponed or cancelled.”

Under the guidelines non-essential gatherings must be limited to no more than 250 people with a space appropriate for social distancing. Gatherings of individuals who are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19 should be limited to no more than 10 people.

“Dr. Korver would like to remind the public to wear a mask, wash your hands, and practice physical and social distancing. The virus is spreading here in Lassen County and we must take every precaution to protect yourself and those around you.”
