Prescribed Burning

You might notice smoke drifting our direction over the next few days as Lassen National Forest plans to implement prescribed burning on the Almanor Ranger District beginning today.

The 350-acre burn will be ignited 5 miles southeast of Payne’s Creek and smoke will be visible from Highway 36, as well as the Sacramento River Valley.

Any significant smoke production should subside within 48 hours of ignition.

If you are travelling through the area the Forest Service asks that you please obey posted signs adjacent to the prescribed fire area.

Forest Service personnel may be working along roadsides and controlling traffic. Any questions may be directed to the Almanor Ranger District, 258-2141.
