Premiere Video: Join Us For Lassen High School’s 2020 Graduation Ceremony Tonight at 7:00

Friday night was a night to remember for everyone involved as Lassen High School threw a commencement party for the Class of 2020, the likes of which had never been seen before in Lassen’s 115 years of graduation ceremonies.

Because of social-distancing requirements in place during the COVID-19 pandemic the school was forced to reinvent the annual event, which is normally held on Arnold Field.

This year the ceremony was held in the back parking lot with parents, friends, siblings and graduates driving through to receive their diplomas.

Superintendent/Principal Morgan Nugent introduced the graduation exercise as the, “first, and hopefully last, drive-thru graduation.”

Speakers included Senior Class President Landon Bennett, ASB President Neil Growdon and Valedictorians Gabriella Nielsen and Kaitlyn Nakanishi.

The keynote speaker was Russell Smith, Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy and Class of 1988 Lassen graduate.

The event was broadcast over KSUE radio with graduates listening to the speeches over the radio in their cars as they paraded through town on their way to the school.

We captured the entire event with our SusanvilleStuff cameras. Our broadcast is brought to you by Lassen Municipal Utility District and Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems.

The broadcast will premiere at 7:00p.m.
