Thursday morning saw the return of what has become a holiday tradition for many Susanville families, as Lassen Senior Services held their annual Thanksgiving Turkey Trot, with 212 runners braving the 24-degree weather to help stuff the LSS Food Pantry for low-income seniors.
The fastest runners in the 3.1-mile event were Blair Dennler and Quinn McKee, who both took home delicious Thanksgiving pies.
“Congratulations to the ‘Turkey, Cranberry Sauce and Pie’ for their best costume win,” said event organizer Charlotte Roberts. “Honorable mention was Forrest Gump.”
According to Roberts the largest family group was made up of nineteen people! Both winning families took home turkeys for the win.
Roberts thanked the City of Susanville and the Susanville Fire Department for their help with traffic control. Prizes were donated by IGA, posters were donated by Lassen Addressing, Starbucks donated coffee and United Way donated water and Propel.
Most importantly Lassen Senior Services got lots of non-perishable items for their food pantry.
