The National Weather Service office in Reno is warning residents here in Lassen County, as well as in areas of eastern Plumas and eastern Sierra counties, that heavy snow is possible until late this afternoon.
Forecasters say that our area will continue to receive moderate to heavy snow, with accumulations of 2 to 5 inches east of Susanville, and 5 to 10 inches west of Susanville and near the Highway 89 corridor.
The heaviest snowfall is expected this morning and travel will be very difficult with poor visibility at times due to snow and blowing snow.
Avoid travel if possible, you could be stuck in your vehicle for many hours. If you must travel, prepare for long delays and carry an emergency kit with extra food, water and clothing. If you stay home, have a backup plan in case of power outages.
