NWS Weather Bulletin: NOAA Issues Dense Smoke Advisory

The National Weather Service office in Reno has issued a Dense Smoke Advisory for Susanville and Lake Almanor areas in effect through 11:00a.m. Monday.

Forecasters are expecting visibility as low as 1/4 mile in dense smoke from the Hog Flat fire.

Low visibility will lead to hazardous driving conditions.

Most of the dense smoke will impact areas in the vicinity of Susanville and Lake Almanor. Smoke may transport into the Reno vicinity and the Tahoe Basin at times.

Stay indoors as much as possible when smoke is present. Avoid strenuous activity, especially if you are sensitive to poor air quality, such as the elderly, children and anyone with chronic illness or respiratory problems. Consider postponing outdoor activities.

Check airnow.gov for the latest air quality information.
