NWS Weather Bulletin: Heavy Snow This Evening and Sunday

The National Weather Service office in Reno has issued a Winter Storm Warning for all of Lassen County along with a wide area of northeastern California and northern Nevada.

According to the storm bulletin heavy snow is expected with total snow accumulations of 4 to 10 inches here in the valley and 10 to 18 inches in the upper elevations west of highway 395.

Winds this afternoon could gust as high as 60 mph with the heaviest snow expected this evening.

Travel could be very difficult. Strong winds could cause tree damage. Blowing snow could reduce visibilities to near zero at times.

Avoid travel if possible, you could be stuck in your vehicle for many hours. If you must travel, prepare for long delays and carry an emergency kit with extra food, water and clothing. Have a backup plan in case of power outages.
