NWS Weather Bulletin: Dense Smoke Advisory Through Friday Evening

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Dense Smoke Advisory warning that, because of a shift in winds, the Honey Lake Valley will find itself inundated with smoke from wildfires burning to our west.

The Dense Smoke Advisory will be in effect until 5:00p.m. Friday.

Forecasters say that light southwest winds are currently pushing smoke from multiple ongoing California wildfires into the region and that smoke will settle in area valleys for Friday morning. The poor conditions are expected to last through Friday.

The smoke will create unhealthy air quality and reduced visibility.

Depending on wildfire activity smoke may impact air quality here in the valley through the weekend.

Stay indoors as much as possible when smoke is present. Avoid strenuous activity, especially if you are sensitive to poor air quality, such as the elderly, children and anyone with chronic illness or respiratory problems. Consider postponing outdoor activities.

Check airnow.gov for the latest air quality information.
