NWS Weather Bulletin: Another Major Winter Storm to Hit Tuesday Afternoon

The National Weather Service office in Reno has issued an Urgent Winter Weather Message for all of Lassen, eastern Plumas and eastern Sierra counties.

A Winter Storm Watch will be in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday evening for elevations above 5,000 feet

Heavy snow will be possible above 5,000 feet with total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches. Here in the Honey Lake Valley 2 to 5 inches are expected Wednesday.

In the higher elevations west of Highway 395 snow totals are forecast to be from 12 to 30 inches.

Snow levels will start at the valley floors Tuesday afternoon, but may rise rapidly to 7,000 feet Wednesday. Potential snow accumulations would be much less if this occurs.

Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commutes.

Strong winds could cause tree damage.
