NWS Bulletin: Snow Expected Tonight and Thursday Morning

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Surprise Valley California and Northern Lassen County, warning that a quick, weak winter storm is expected to bring snow accumulations to the valley floor beginning this evening.

The advisory is in effect from 7:00 tonight until 10:00a.m. tomorrow.

Forecasters expect total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches with most of the snow falling between 10p.m. and 6:00a.m.

Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning commute, especially for CA-36 and CA-44 west of Susanville, CA-139 and CA-299 in northern Lassen County, US-395 north of Ravendale, and from Cedar Pass into the Surprise Valley.

Even light snowfall causes major travel delays, especially during periods of high traffic volume. Be sure to allow extra time to reach your destination. Leave extra space between vehicles since it takes longer to stop on slick roadways.

The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
