Most Lassen Schools Return to In-Person Learning January 4th: Masks Mandatory

Lassen County Superintendent of Schools Patricia Gunderson announced Wednesday that most Lassen County students will return to in-person learning January 4th when the local health order expires, however all students will be required to wear face coverings to attend.

“After speaking with the local Public Health Official,” Gunderson said in a brief statement, “I want to let families and our community know that the local health order in which the Public Health Department directed all schools in Lassen County to close and move to Distance Learning, will expire December 31, 2020, and all schools will be returning to in-person learning on January 4, 2021.”

According to Gunderson, Westwood Unified School District has elected to continue with Distance Learning until the end of the semester.

“Each school district will continue to implement their local Plans and revert to Distance Learning as needed based upon student and staff COVID exposures and/or concerns.”

“Unfortunately, one change that has been made by the California Department of Public Health guidance dated November 16, 2020, is the requirement that all students, grades TK-12, wear face coverings unless specifically exempted by the guidance.”

Please make sure to check your school district’s website, social media or notification system for specific information regarding your child’s school.
