Local Events Begin Cancelling as COVID-19 Virus Fears Escalate

Several local groups, businesses and organizations have begun cancelling or postponing upcoming events as fears surrounding the spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus leads to added precautions.

The Bottle and Brush Art Bar has decided to close for the remainder of March.

Blue Star Moms March 17th chapter meeting has been canceled. Their next monthly meeting is to be determined.

Susanville’s Best of Broadway performances scheduled for this weekend and next have been postponed. Ticket holders who would like a refund may stop by the Veteran’s Memorial Hall on Main Street Saturday, March 14th, between 12:00 and 3:00p.m. If you have any questions regarding a refund please call 310-4302.

The Vinton Cowboy Poetry Show at the Sierra Valley Grange has been postponed until September 18th and 19th.

The Lassen County Office of Education is cancelling/postponing Third Grade Lassen County History Day, Fourth Grade Day, 8th Grade Day at Lassen Community College, and the Fine Arts Festival

The Family Connections Conference originally scheduled for March 28th is being postponed.

The Lassen Historical Museum will be closed until April 1st.

The Lassen High Alumni Spring Social originally scheduled for April 8th will be postponed and rescheduled at a later date.

C&S Waste Solutions will be temporarily closing their lobby. Their phone system will remain operational Monday-Friday from 8:00a.m. until 4:00p.m. 530-252-1200. Collection service will remain on its normal schedule and C&S will not charge for over the phone payments or photo copy IDs at this time.

The Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser being held for Caren Ziegler on March 21st has been cancelled.

Lake 4H’s St. Patrick’s Day dinner has been cancelled and organizers say that they will be refunding money to those who bought tickets.

Susanville and Westwood Little League have both suspended all Little League activities and play until at least after April 6th. There will be no practices or games until after that date. The Board is working on rescheduling the season’s schedule and more information will be following.

Plumas Sierra Telecommunications – To limit person-to-person contact the utility is temporarily closing their lobby. All services are available on their website, www.pst.coop, the SmartHub app or by calling their office at 530-832-4126.

Senior Day at the Diamond Mountain Casino is cancelled until further notice.

Lassen College has modified their academic schedule, moving a bulk of their classes online and will no longer allow spectators at sports events. All California College baseball games have been suspended indefinitely.

Blue Star Moms Bingo fundraiser is being rescheduled for April 15th.
