Shasta Cascade Convention Set At Susanville
September 28, 1937

Elaborate preparations to entertain Shasta-Cascadians in the ‘land of the tall pines’ have been completed in advance of the seventh annual convention of the Shasta-Cascade Wonderland association.

Ross Draper general chairman for the conclave, announces that Susanville’s part will start with the annual Shasta-Cascade breakfast at 8 a.m. Tuesday Supervisor J. H. Godman of Ravendale host director, will preside Westwood will entertain the delegates and visitors on Monday.

Keynote of the convention will be around at 10 o’clock by President B. K. Snyder of Lakeview Ore. Following Snyder’s speech reports will be made by each of the nine Wonderland counties and each of the four units. Bids for the 1938 convention are also to be received. Ashland already having announced intentions of extending an invitation while Dunsmuir is expected to renew the bid entered last year.

Group luncheons will be held at noon, following which guests will participate in ceremonies at Roop’s Fort with Governor Frank F. Merriam and Congressman Harry L. Englebright as speakers Governor Merriam will also lead a cavalcade to the grave of Peter Lassen to pay tribute to the memory of the pioneer explorer.

More than 600 persons are expected to attend the annual Shasta-Cascade Wonderland banquet to be held at Paradise Inn Tuesday evening.
