Lassen Officials to Stand Trial
October 27, 1940

Judge A. K. Wylie from Alturas is presiding in Lassen superior court during the absence of Judge Curler.

Former Supervisor James Leavitt and his foreman, Charles T. McNeil, are in court, the former charged by the grand jury with falsifying a public record and McNeil with embezzlement of $8 of county funds.

Attorneys Hardin Barry, J. A. Nutting and J. A. Pardee are counsel for Leavitt, and Attorney Don Cady is defending McNeil. District Attorney A. J. Anderson is representing Lassen County.

The defense attorneys are seeking a dismissal of the indictments on the ground that they were improperly found by the grand jury.
