The Honey Lake Producers association was organized last spring for the purpose of co-operative marketing. N. V. Wemple of the Wemple Warehouse company and M. D. Standish, farm advisor, both of Standish, are now in Westwood representing the Honey Lake Producers’ association to learn the wants of the employees of the three mills and others of the town. The purpose is to sell at a lower price than that at which vegetables and fruits and other farm products may be brought in from other points and yet bring good returns to the farmers.
The board of trustees of Susanville are considering a proposition to purchase 17 acres for a park and children’s playground. The tract in question has often been discussed and this time the matter seems to be in a way to go through. An opportunity has come up whereby the whole tract may be purchased at very low figure. The tract is wooded and a picturesque spot.
The Richmond road leading out of Susanville and a favorite driveway for residents of Susanville is being graded and improved by the Lassen Lumber and Box company. They have a force of men at work and furnish all horses and machinery needed for the job. The only expense the county is put to is the cost of pipe needed for the culverts.
F. B. McKay, dairy committeeman, who was sent to Wisconsin for the purpose of purchasing cows for Lassen farmers has completed his mission. He has purchased 40 cows and had them tested for tuberculosis, and started for Susanville with them. He will be about ten days on the road.
