Lassen Fair will Be Held
No Conflict Seen with Defense Rules
March 4, 1942

The Lassen County Livestock Show and rodeo, for years one of the biggest attractions in this area, will be held this year as originally planned, unless a conflict with military regulations should be unexpectedly arise, the advisory committee announced here today.

It had been feared previously that the fair might have been cancelled because of conflict with defense regulations on the Pacific coast.

The recommendation that the fair be presented as usual will be made to the county board of supervisors at the next regular meeting. The board already has given its stamp of approval to tentative plans for the show.

Tentative dates set for the fair by the committee in charge are August 19-23.

The decision to hold the big show came after members of the advisory committee attended a meeting of the directors of twenty-three northern California fairs at Marysville last Saturday. It was disclosed at the time that the staging of the smaller shows would conflict with none of the defense regulations prescribed for the area by army officials, and it was recommended that wherever [possible the county fairs be held.

Definite plans for the Lassen show will be made this Saturday at a meeting of the directors of the Quincy, McArthur, Cedarville, Lakeview and Lassen shows here. A premium list best suited for all represented fairs also will be drawn at the time.
