The Susanville Kiwanis Club has voted to keep its Kiwanis charter, but it is not asking a controversial woman member to step down.
The woman, Lassen County Deputy District Attorney Renee Roberts is controversial just because she is a woman.
The international organization has said no women can be a member, and the club could lose its charter.
Local president Dean Lucke said the matter has been referred to the club’s executive board.
