Linda Marie Phillips
Linda Marie Phillips was born October 7, 1939 in Susanville, CA. She was the oldest of four children (Linda, Leanna, John, Donald) born to parents Faye and Thomas Garate. Raised on the Garate cattle ranch in Ravendale, CA, she was a lifelong resident of Lassen County until her death on December 25, 2018. Linda married Donald Phillips in 1959 and together they raised 7 children: Steve, Jess, Dona, Donna, Corinna, Cassie and Serena. She was “Mammy” to multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren who all loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don in 1990, and daughter Corinna in 2009. After the death of her husband, Linda dedicated her spare time in life to volunteer work. Her main focus was the Susanville District Library, where she volunteered for almost 25 years. Many other non-profits and organizations also benefited from her time and generosity, such as Lassen Land and Trails, RISE, and Alliance For Smiles. She also took a special interest in foster care and foster care adoption, as four of her own children were adopted. Linda was kind, generous, resolute and calm. She was deeply, deeply loved by all who knew her, but especially by her family. She will forever be missed.
The Phillips’ family would also like to thank Mimi Rena and the local hospice program. Their compassion and care is a great asset to this community and we are very grateful for the support.
