The Triple Threat 6th grade girl’s team concluded their season this weekend at the Jam On It Memorial Day Tournament in Reno, one of the biggest tournaments on the west coast.

Saturday, in the seeding round, they lost a tough one 34-29 to the YBA Panthers from Sacramento.

On Sunday, the girls entered bracket play and blew out the Middletown Ice 35-11. That set them up to play the NEA Lions to see who would go onto the Championship game. It was a hard fought game with both teams going back and forth until NEA pulled away at the end and took the win 40-32.

NEA eventually went on to win the Championship for the tournament.

The girls rallied back from the loss, and having to play three games in one day, to defeat the Lathrop Thunder 30-4 setting them up for the third place game on Monday.

In the final game, the girls came out strong and fast to run away with the game and take the win 45-21 against the Folsom Fusion.

That concluded a season that saw the girls compete at a very high level all year long and grow as a team and as individual athletes. This was a very long basketball season for many of these dedicated girls. Many of them started school basketball in October then onto Lassen Hoops in January then onto Triple Threat. The majority of these girls got over 50 games in since October.

Coach Satica would like to thank the assistant coaches Arian Hart and Randy Harlan and all the parents for a great year.

Triple Threat 8th grade girls traveled to Chico on May 6th and 7th to compete in the Cinco de Madness tournament sponsored by the Chico Tarheels.

Triple Threat opened up against the Paradise Lynx beating them 34-22. Game two pitted Triple Threat to play the Oroville Beast Club 9th grade. This was an out of bracket game for our girls. Our girls were up for the match-winning a close game 26-23.

Our third game on Saturday was against a very tall North Valley Vipers team from Corning. Triple Threat came away with the win 30-22. This success on Saturday put us in position to play UPREP from Redding. This would be our third matchup this season with UPREP winning one and losing one. UPREP fell short losing 37-28, with Triple Threat bringing home the Championship.

Saturday night the parents organized a taco feed that was to die for. This would be the last tournament for Coach Doug Satica and I coaching these girls as they get ready to enter Lassen High School. It was an awesome night for all lots of hugs and tears but what a journey for sure.

This year we played in a total of eight AAU Tournaments winning three of them. With all of the scrimmage games and tournaments, we played a total of 42 games this season.

These girls are work horses and love the game of basketball. They are so excited to get on the floor and represent Lassen High School and the Lady Grizz.
