Lassen’s Future Business Leaders Attend State Leadership Conference

Lassen’s Future Business Leaders of America members traveled to Sacramento, California to compete at the FBLA State Leadership Conference April 25th through April 28th.

“The conference started with a motivational speech by Carlos Ejeda Jr., one of the most dynamic speakers in America,” said FBLA Advisor Dawn Egan. “He combines his entrepreneurial spirit and passion to change youth across the country.”

According to Egan the three-day conference included workshops for members to attend to increase their business knowledge, including how to organize their finances and become better at interviews.

A year of preparation goes into the conference which features more than 65 different competitions, 38 of which are performance or presentation.

While participating at the conference, students voted for state officers and attended a Northern Sectional Chapter meeting.

The following students qualified to compete against 2,500 other qualifiers out of 9,000 members in the State of California.

“Lassen FBLA was awarded the Outstanding Chapter award, and was also awarded multiple awards based on the membership of our chapter,” said Egan.

Awards included; Largest Local Chapter Membership, Largest Percentage of Increase in Local Chapter Membership and Largest Increase in Local Chapter Membership.

“Our chapter has significantly increased from a mere 74 members to 414 members,” Egan explains. “Lassen High is currently the largest chapter in the State of California and 4th in the nation.”

Congratulations also go to Logan Ernaga and Beth Nielsen for qualifying to attend the National Leadership Conference in San Antonio Texas in June. Logan was 2nd in Healthcare Administration and Beth was 3rd in Business Communication.

In addition Carson Ellena placed 7th in Securities and Investments and Hailey Moore received the state FBLA Scholarship for her academics and community service.
