Poetry Out Loud
The LHS Poetry Out Loud competition is January 31st, at lunch in the Drama room. You must register with your English teacher by the 24th and provide your two poem choices to Mrs. Lepage or Mrs. Vincent by the 27th. The County competition is February 8th. Don’t miss out on this fun opportunity to practice your recitation skills and, if you go on to County, earn money.

Valegrams for Valentine’s Day
The Choir will be selling Valegrams in the cafeteria from January 21st to Feb 13th. Buy a Valegram for someone and talented choir singers will go to their class on Valentine’s day and sing to them. Cost is $5 for the song and $10 for a song and a rose.

Swing Dance Class
The performing arts club is hosting a swing dance class today, January 27th, from 6:00-7:30 in the drama room. Stop by and learn some moves, no experience or partner required. See Mrs. Bennett in room 115 for more details.

CSF Applications
California Scholarship Federation is now accepting second semester applications from Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors who earn stellar grades and serve in our community. Applications are currently available in the Counseling office. If you need assistance please see Shanda or Mrs. Satica – they would be glad to help you fill out the application.

The first CSF meeting for the new year is scheduled for Thursday, January 30th at lunch in room 112. Bring your completed application to the meeting or drop it off in counseling. Freshmen interested in joining CSF are now eligible using your first semester grades.  Go to the meeting for help filling out the application and they will provide your lunch if you qualify!

Counseling News
Scholarships are now available. Check them out on Naviance or in the Counseling Office. Beta Sigma Phi ~Eta Eta, Cabrillo Civic Clubs of California, California State Retirees, Julie McQueen Memorial, FBLA, Monticola Club, Plumas Sierra REC, Sierra Desert Properties and Susanville Elks Lodge #148.
