Lassen County Puts Incident Command Structure in Place Ahead of COVID-19

Lassen County has established a robust Incident Command Structure to coordinate the local response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with Barbara Longo, Director for Health and Social Services for Lassen County, and Sheriff Dean Growdon providing leadership to the ICS as the joint Incident Commanders.

The Incident Command is a multi-agency response, including state and local agencies, with Incident Commanders committed to bringing timely, accurate and complete information to the public.

Richard Egan, Lassen County’s CAO, serves as the Public Information Officer and Officer Kristen Wilburn, from the Susanville Office of the California Highway Patrol, serving as his deputy PIO for this incident.

Egan will provide daily updates via www.lassencares.org and specific releases as the situation dictates. The public is also encouraged to access related information at www.lassencares.org and join the Facebook page for Lassen Cares.

For questions pertaining to the COVID-19 virus, please call the Lassen County COVID-19 call center at (530) 251-8100 Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

As of Sunday afternoon, according to LassenCares.org there were still zero cases of COVID-19 in Lassen County with 24 total cases tested. 15 of those test have come back negative and 9 are still pending.

Stay-at-home
Residents are reminded that Governor Newsom signed an Executive Order on March 19th, asking all California residents to stay at home if they are not part of critical infrastructure sectors.
The order is in place until further notice. It covers the entire state of California, and only exempts activity as needed to maintain continuity of operation of the federal critical infrastructure sectors, critical government services, schools, childcare and construction, including housing construction.

Per the Governor’s Executive Order gas stations, pharmacies, grocery stores, farmers’ markets, food banks, convenience stores, take-out and delivery restaurants, banks and laundromats/laundry services should remain open.

State and local government, including law enforcement and offices that provide government programs and services, will remain open. Some have modified operations to reduce public interaction.

Per the Governor’s Executive Order dine-in restaurants, bars and nightclubs, entertainment venues, gyms and fitness studios, public events and gatherings, convention centers and hair and nail salons are recommended to modify or close at this time.

Stay Active during the Stay at Home Order

How to stay active during self-isolation.

  • Maintain a routine. Get up at the same time each day.
  • Shower and get dressed in the morning.
  • Try to stretch and complete a light form of exercise each day. Some ways to accomplish this in the home would be:
Follow along with guided exercise videos found on YouTube.
Go outdoors and take a walk.
Try a series of simple calisthenics (jumping jacks, sit-ups, push-ups, etc.)
  • Maintain your hobbies and interests, if possible, or take up a new hobby such as knitting, baking, or reading a book.
  • Check in on your family members
  • If you meet with up groups often, try to utilize Skype or other chat forums.
  • Check in with family members through FaceTime or Skype in order to stay connected.
