Lassen County Public Health Issues COVID-19 Coronavirus Update

Tuesday, July 7th, 2020

The Lassen County Department of Public Health is reporting 30 active cases of COVID-19 in the county this morning, a sharp increase over the last few days.

According to local health officials the spike in confirmed cases is being driven by outbreaks at CCC and High Desert State Prison.

“Between all the inmate cases and the mandatory staff testing we will continue to see positive cases and we at Public Health are working hard to keep it contained on the community side and working with both institutions to mitigate the spread,” explains Public Health spokesperson Jayson Vial.

Currently the county is reporting 30 active cases and 10 recovered cases.

The California Correctional Center is reporting 223 cases and High Desert State Prison is reporting 4. It should be pointed out that these inmate numbers from the state have not been updated in several days.
