Lassen County Chamber of Commerce Weekly Update

Patti Hagata, Executive Director

The Chamber board will meet on Thursday, November 14th for the monthly board meeting, beginning at noon, at Diamond Mountain Casino in the Hotel Conference Room. The board encourages member attendance and comment; if you would like to address the board please contact the office staff prior to the board meeting so that you can be added to the agenda.

Mark your calendar to attend the next Chamber Mixer that will be held on Thursday, November 21st, hosted by Milwood Florist & Treats, from 5:30 to 7:30pm, located at 2020 Main Street, Susanville. You are invited to stop by for some holiday cheer, check out the gift and holiday décor, and enjoy s’mores. Food and no-host bar will be available. Everyone is welcomed to attend and we encourage you to bring a friend.

The Chamber strives to provide support to our local business members through a variety of programs – this year we are hosting our first, “Small Business Saturday.” Small Business Saturday began 10 years ago and is sponsored by American Express. The nationwide event, held the Saturday after Thanksgiving, strives to promote small, locally owned, brick and mortar businesses across the United States.

Chamber members can participate in this event at no charge. The Chamber will provide the materials and guidelines – all you have to do is be open and ready for business! The Chamber office will serve as the “Welcome Station,” providing refreshments and guidance to shoppers. We will have a list of participating businesses that will serve as a shopping guide. Shoppers pick up a “Passport” at either the Welcome Station, or at participating merchants. When a shopper stops by the participating business, they will receive a unique stamp in their passport. If a shopper collects at least five stamps, they will be entered in a drawing for a gift valued at over $100.00!

Chamber board members will be reaching out to businesses with program packets and details – if you’d like to participate, please call the Chamber office at 257-4323 and we will put you the list. If you’d like to volunteer to help at the Welcome Station, please let us know.

The fate of our economic vitality lies with healthy small businesses – working together, we can ensure that our businesses flourish, and our community members understand the importance of supporting those who support their community. Small Business Saturday is just the beginning of what will be an extended campaign educating our shoppers and providing them with a “Passport to our Community”.
