Lassen County Chamber of Commerce Update July 19th, 2011

Lassen County Chamber of Commerce Update
Patti Hagata, Executive Director

Showcase your business or organizations at this year’s Lassen County Fair Parade and help make this the best parade ever!

The Chamber will again be coordinating the Annual Lassen County Fair Parade that will be held on Saturday, July 23rd, beginning at 10am sharp. Entry forms can still be dropped off for late entry if received by Wednesday, July 20th; stop by the Chamber office or call 257-4323 if you would like an entry form forwarded to you or log on to www.lassencountychamber.org and download an entry form from the homepage.

Parade check-in will begin at 9am the morning of the parade in front of the Uptown post office, which is located across from the Masonic Hall, 84 North Lassen Street; at that time parade entrants will receive their parade number and line-up location.

Parade featured entries will include the 2011 Miss Lassen County and Court, the Grand Marshall, Little Mr. and Miss Lassen County, and the 2011 Old Timers of the Year, many local clubs and businesses will also be included. You won’t want to miss this time honored tradition!

The Annual Fair Parade Breakfast, sponsored by the Susanville Nile Club, will be served Saturday morning of the parade, beginning at 7am in the Masonic Hall. The cost is $5 per adult; children under 12 are $2.50 each. The breakfast menu will feature pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee, juice and milk.

It’s fair week with many fun events to attend. Among the many fair activities not to be missed is the Sunday morning Junior Livestock Auction that will begin at 8:30am. The Lassen County Cattlemen will sponsor a ‘Good Morning Social Hour’ for all buyers beginning at 7:30am and the buyer registration volunteers will be available to sign buyers in and answer questions regarding the sale.

The sale features animals raised by local 4-H and FFA members who will conclude their animal projects at this sale. This is learning and business venture for these young men and women and this is their marketplace to showcase the final product. Your purchase of a market animal will support a youngster who is in the agriculture business on a small scale and says ‘well done’ to a young person who has spent months preparing, feeding, and caring for their market project.

Board member Julie James, of Diamond Mountain Casino, submitted her resignation from the board of directors. Her resignation leaves an unexpired term to be filled; the board seat expires December of 2011. The Chamber board is accepting applications to fill the board vacancy. Chamber members who are interested in sharing their time and talent to help promote the business community and Lassen County by serving on the board are encouraged to apply.

Applications are available at the Chamber office, located at 75 North Weatherlow Street. Applicants must submit their application by Monday, August 8, 2011. A selection to fill the board vacancy will be made at the August 11th board meeting.
