Kathleen Ann Jablonski

Kathleen Ann Jablonski, age 66, of Susanville, CA passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of 37 years to Tom Jablonski.

Kathy was born in San Pedro, California in 1947. She was the daughter of the late Anna Marie and Henry Schafer. She attended Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School in San Pedro and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from San Jose State University in 1973. She moved to Susanville in 1974 and was united in marriage to her husband Tom on December 18, 1976. She worked as an Occupational Therapist in Lassen County from 1974 until she retired in 2008. Kathy is survived by her husband, Tom Jablonski of Susanville; 3 children: Michael Jablonski of Santa Barbara, CA, Paula Jean (& son-in-law, Shane) Szczerba of De Queen, AR, Eugene Jablonski of Susanville, CA; 4 brothers and sisters: Henry Schafer of Huntington Beach” CA, Bill Schafer of Palmdale, CA, Carolyn Brummel of San Pedro, CA, and Rose Crouthamel of San Pedro, CA. Kathy also leaves behind multiple beloved nieces & nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

Kathy was a daughter, sister, wife, mother and a dear friend. She had a big heart and would always greet you with a smile and a funny story. She was a loyal friend to many and loved going on adventures with her lifelong friends known as “bookclub”. She was passionate about helping children with disabilities and was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Native daughters of the Golden West. Her greatest joy in life was simply spending time with her friends and family. She will forever be remembered and dearly missed by all who knew her.

Kathy’s rosary will be held on Friday, March 7th at 5:00 pm at Walton’s Colonial Mortuary in Susanville, 115 South Lassen St. Her funeral mass will take place on Saturday, March 8th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Susanville, 120 North Union St; burial to follow at Janesville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Honey Lake Hospice, PO Box 1166, Susanville, CA 96130, or Native Daughters of the Golden West, Nataqua Parlor #152, PO Box 1905, Susanville, CA 96130.
