June Beverly Christofferson – January 14, 2022

June Beverly Christofferson

Our mother, June Beverly Christofferson, passed peacefully in Susanville Ca on January 14, 2022, at the age of 84. She was born in Ogden, Utah on August 14, 1937.
At around the age of two, our mother moved with her family from Ogden, Utah to Fernley, Nevada where she attended school. When she was a young teen, her family moved to Litchfield Ca. There is where she met and married our father and made our home. Following our father’s passing, she moved to Merrill Oregon with her second husband and lived there until his death. She returned to her home in Litchfield Ca in 2020.

We hold many wonderful memories of our mother. Her family was always important to her. When we were young, she did whatever she could to encourage and support us in school and sports. She and our father instilled in us our love of nature and a need for outdoor adventure as well as teaching us by example the virtues of hard work. She loved crafts and crocheting, cooking, dressing up to go out dancing, swimming, and waterskiing. We spent many summer days at Antelope Lake with family and friends. She also had a green thumb and loved her plants. There were always stops along the roadside to get plant cuttings for her and it often happened during the many spur-of-the-moment adventures she took us on.

Our mother enjoyed working as much as she did playing, especially during her time at the Litchfield Post Office where she was the Post Master for 30 years. She had a gregarious personality so she naturally loved working and visiting with her customers and neighbors. During that time, she and our father were CB enthusiasts; handles Mail Lady and Mail Man.

We always had pets and in her later years, mom cherished the companionship of three dogs, Brittany, Panda, and Angel. She loved them very much and they were always by her side.

Our mother was preceded in death by her parents, William T. and Priscilla L. A. Howard, her brothers, Benny J. and Leonard B. Howard, her husband of 38 years and the father of her children, Charles L. Chandler, and her second husband of 22 years, Miles J. Christofferson.

She is survived by three sons, Dewaine Chandler (Tamara), Terry Chandler (Tammy), and Gary Chandler (Cindi); 9 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Our mother always did her best for us and we are grateful. Memories of her strength and her passionate approach to life will stay with us. We will forever love her and she will not be forgotten.

Services will be held at Walton’s Colonial Mortuary, 115 S Lassen St, Susanville, CA on January 29, 2022, at 1:00p.m. Graveside service will follow at Janesville Cemetery for family and close friends.
